Most of us are in this mad rush every morning to get to work. We’re just grabbing the first thing we can find, literally inhaling it as we get ready and then out the door we go. For those of us ‘healthy’ out there, we eat flavoured yoghurt or muesli and milk most days. If you have 5 minutes extra, you might just find a fruit lying around, cut it up and add it to the bowl. Enter oven-dried strawberries!
When you get a few hours (yes I know it sounds like a rarity), and you have some odd jobs around the house, simply slice up these strawberries and stick them in the oven for about 3 hours at 120C.
By doing this you are essentially dehydrating the strawberries to make them into little strawberry chips which can stay for quite a while. I would recommend keeping them refrigerated, but keeping them outside works as well as long as it’s in an airtight container.
Here’s to making breakfasts more fun! I simply love using some of these chips on my semolina porridge each morning.
