Ugly Christmas Sweaters

So there’s this thing about Christmas sweaters right? They just have to be ugly. And nowadays its become like a thing that the uglier your Christmas sweater, the cooler it is. (Don’t ask me how? why? what?) So much so that its become almost an integral part of Christmas. So obviously it had to be a part of my advent calendar!

I, however, couldn’t quite bring myself to decorate ugly ones. I mean I tried really hard, but it just didn’t work. So mine are more cute, and less ugly.

Again like almost every other post so far, its a mix of the gingerbread, vanilla and chocolate cookies. I’m sure you guys have got the hang of the royal icing by now.

I managed to get my hands on a sweater-shaped cookies cutter, but for those of you that cant, I’d recommend using my paper and sharp knife trick for the best results.

I wanted to keep the designs really simple for these. I was finding it a little tough to decorate neatly and properly in such a small space, especially considering how humid Bombay was when I was working on them.

Once I did the base with royal icing, I found them a little too flat which is why if you’d notice some of them have an extra layer of outlining. this helped define the cookie shape as a sweater.

I obviously had to do one with Christmas lights, and one with a reindeer (TBH that one really turned out like an ugly Christmas sweater).

The snowman came to me, coz I had just finished making the snowman dip dip stix, and so I couldn’t stop obsessing.

The HO HO HO coz tacky!

And the green and white polka dots, coz I rant out of ideas.

However, Neha from Everything On a Plate decided to step in and design her very own ugly Christmas sweater, and check out how good it turned out!

I know you can barely see the cookies in this photo, but I just wanted to show off my Christmassy reindeer clip.
